Am I the only one that have totally missed the release of this one...? It is such a huge design improvement over the "faux" Lotus! Well done Hennessey!

Is it still based off of a Lotus chassis, or is it all bespoke?

It wasn't much of a Lotus chassis in the first version.

A very loose "based"...

So, it's Lotus based, and now looks like one of those stillborn Lotus concepts from a few years ago?
John Hennessey, master troll.

Last i heard this was not confirmed, where did you hear this goodness?

It is confirmed. This was from several months ago. I'm surprised so few people know about it

It's like less than 10% lotus. Maybe less that 5% for the Venom GT. The F5 will be even less Lotus than the GT. Watch some of the latest documentaries with John Hennessey in them(I think there might even be an interview about the F5...pretty sure there is) you'll see how true of cars they really are

They primarily kept the things that weren't worth spending money on to develop, like interior pieces an the basic monocoque structure. A small company like them(especially at that point) can't develop a incredibly high quality chassis quickly or cost effectively. It is barely Lotus

The Venom GT uses a highly modified Lotus Exige chassis . The manufacturer, Hennessey Performance Engineering , claims the modified chassis uses components from the Lotus Exige, including the roof, doors, side glass, windscreen, dashboard, cockpit, floorpan, HVAC system, wiper and head lamps .

that's more than 10% along with the british gearbox (developed a mile from my house!) and constructed in the UK.

This is true that they use those components. But it makes total sense for them to do so. This is a modification company without the funds and backing from apparent company.
But you are right. I was mistaken when I said 10%. I was typing that really quickly cause I had to get to bed and made a mistake. Although, it isn't much more than 10% in the end.

of course, it's worth noting they were chosen because cost/performance they are the best.

It was a joke because the nose of this really does look like the Lotus concepts that rolled out a few years ago, see:

I do agree. I had forgoten about that concept and do agree that is is similar in some regards. But, the fact that there have just been so many different cars I general means that people like us with huge knowledge of cars are going to recognize certain styling aspects in new cars as looking like other cars..if that makes sense. For example, I also see some LaFerrari and Corvette in the F5 design
I'm just tired of people saying its not a production car, it's just a fast lotus, etc..
